Ukraine City the day view

Alushta (Алушта) is a Black Sea coastal resort located on the Crimean Peninsula, only 45 km (28 miles) south-east of Simferopol.

It is one of the largest and most popular holiday resorts not only in Crimea, but in all of Ukraine. With a population of roughly 40,000 inhabitants, the city's population swells to several times its size from June until October. This is when Ukrainians and Russians migrate south to take advantage of the areas wonderful climate, clean air and popular Black Sea beaches.

One of the unique qualities of Alushta, and its more well-known sister resort Yalta, is the areas extremely favorable climate. Tucked between the Crimean mountain range to the north and the Black Sea to the south, cold northerly winds are actually pushed up over the city. This creates a subtropical microclimate comparable to that in the Mediterranean much further south.
