Beijing China Olympics

While every country participating in the Olympics have their own stories to follow, one of the biggest ones in the United States has been swimmer Michael Phelps. Phelps has already won two gold medals in the early stages of the tournament. He won one of the medals in an individual race and last night his relay team beat the favorite French team by one eight hundredth of a second. The victory was a satisfying one for team USA because leading up the event, the French team had promised a victory over the USA team, and they said it would be an easy one.

Michael Phelps is currently on pace to break the all-time gold medal record for a single Olympics. If he wins every event hes scheduled to be in he would have nine, beating Mark Spitzs 36 year record. Spitz, also a swimmer, is also tied with Carl Lewis for the most Gold Medals of all time, with eight. If (its more like when) Phelps wins his next gold medal, he will be number one all time, as he has already won 8 between this year and last years Olympics. Phelps next chance to do this will be Tuesday in an individual competition.

Also last night the USA Womans gymnastics team advanced to the medal stage, second behind the host country team, China. China finished the preliminary round in first place, but in the medal round, the initial scores are wiped out and you start from scratch. What China does get out of finishing first is the ability to watch American participate in their events first. This way, China will no exactly what they will have to do to win the events.

Overall, China is expected to win the most medals in this years Olympics games. They have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and their over 600 athletes appear to be destined for the Gold Medal title. Already they have a lead over America in the number of medals, and in just Gold Medals they have a commanding lead.

The action continues nearly all day on NBC and their sister stations.

Ukraine City the day view

Alushta (Алушта) is a Black Sea coastal resort located on the Crimean Peninsula, only 45 km (28 miles) south-east of Simferopol.

It is one of the largest and most popular holiday resorts not only in Crimea, but in all of Ukraine. With a population of roughly 40,000 inhabitants, the city's population swells to several times its size from June until October. This is when Ukrainians and Russians migrate south to take advantage of the areas wonderful climate, clean air and popular Black Sea beaches.

One of the unique qualities of Alushta, and its more well-known sister resort Yalta, is the areas extremely favorable climate. Tucked between the Crimean mountain range to the north and the Black Sea to the south, cold northerly winds are actually pushed up over the city. This creates a subtropical microclimate comparable to that in the Mediterranean much further south.

paris france best pictures and history

The earliest archaeological signs of permanent settlements in the Paris area date from around 4200 BC.The Parisii, a sub-tribe of the Celtic Senones, inhabited the area near the river Seine from around 250 BC.The Romans conquered the Paris basin in 52 BC,[27] with a permanent settlement by the end of the same century on the Left Bank Sainte Geneviève Hill and the Île de la Cité. The Gallo-Roman town was originally called Lutetia, but later Gallicised to Lutèce. It expanded greatly over the following centuries, becoming a prosperous city with a forum, palaces, baths, temples, theatres, and an amphitheatre. The collapse of the Roman empire and the 5th-century Germanic invasions sent the city into a period of decline. By AD 400, Lutèce, largely abandoned by its inhabitants, was little more than a garrison town entrenched into a hastily fortified central island. The city reclaimed its original appellation of "Paris" towards the end of the Roman occupation.

Alaska

The cruising season for Alaska cruises starts in April and runs through September. Cheap Alaska cruises can be found by searching for your cruise during the least busy times, which are at the beginning and end of the season. June, July and August are the busiest cruise season and will be the most difficult time to find discount Alaska cruises. Try searching for cheap Alaska cruises during April and during the last few weeks of the season in September, when many travelers may not realize that cruises are still available and many cruise companies offer deals to fill up their last few cruise trips of the season.

Alaska cruise deals can be found on small cruise ships, but are more likely on the larger ships. While cheap Alaska cruises on smaller ships can be found (usually about a 10 – 15% discount off of the highest prices), larger cruise companies sometimes offer discounts of up to 25 or 30%. Due to their larger size, these cruise companies often are able to offer lower prices on discount Alaska cruises.

Alaska Beautifull Place
Alaska ShipTravelers can also search for cheap Alaska cruises by booking Alaska cruise packages. An almost endless number of separate activities (generally not included in cruise prices) can be booked in the towns and ports of Alaska. Wildlife tours, whale watching tours, whitewater rafting, fishing trips and other historical walking tours through towns like Anchorage can be booked with your cruise price. If you plan to fly into the town your ship leaves from (usually Anchorage, Seattle or Vancouver), you can also package your flight with your cruise ship price. Often by booking all of these travel amenities together, companies will offer a discounted price overall.

Alaska Rock PicterLast minute Alaska cruise deals are yet another way to find cheaper cruises. You can sometimes find 7-night cruises for as low as $599 per person by searching for last minute deals on ships that are about to leave but still have a few empty rooms. If your travel plans are somewhat flexible, try searching for last minute deals. Early booking discounts are also offered by Holland, Cruise America and other major Alaska cruise carriers. They do not offer discounts off of the bottom line prices for early booking, rather, they offer luxury and ocean-view rooms at a discounted cost (usually for the same price as a standard room). As with regularly priced cruises, all cruise trips include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Alaska Nice PicOn the main street, the Strip – there are all the most famous casinos and a full sense of unreality. In the Venetian gondolas ply the canals, in Paris – Montmartre small, artificial clear sky and chanson in Wynn – show-room Ferrari in Bellagio – Picasso restaurant with scripts on the walls. The most touching – it’s fountains, the casino Bellagio, suiting water performances by Viva Las Vegas and My Heart Will Go On. Generally, in Las Vegas bouts of deja vu is much stronger than in New York. Fountains, you’ve probably seen in “Ocean’s Eleven”, where Bellagio was robbed. A canonical signs on Fremont Street – the famous cowboy and girl wander up and down in her stocking feet, we generally litsezreem more than Piggy with Stepashko. In fact that Vegas, where a kind word and a gun do better than just a kind word, no longer exists. Old Vegas, where ran the Mafia, the FBI executed in mid-1980’s – his agony is shown in the movie “Casino” by Martin Scorsese. Former casino demolished in their place appeared new, more bombastic, more expensive and owned by corporations, not families.

Princess Maha al-Sudairi, the wife of Saudi Arabia's Interior Minister, is holed up in a Paris luxury hotel claiming diplomatic immunity after refusing to pay a $24 million tab she ran up at the city's ritziest boutiques. Al-Sudairi, whose husband Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz is a member of Saudi Arabia's royal family and is second-in-line to the throne, racked up the impressive debt on a year-long spree at the French capital's high-end clothing, jewelry and lingerie boutiques, the London Telegraph reports. In all some 30 businesses have been stiffed including Dior, jewelry shops Chaumet and Victoria Casal, lingerie emporium O Caprices De Lili, and the famed Hotel de Crillon.

I couldn’t open my eyes because unfortunately, I was walking on the opposite direction as the wind. The wind picked up the sand and smacked me right in the face, in the arms, neck, all over! When I got home, I was surprised to find sand in my brassiere because of the sand attack!! Also, I swear I was closing my mouth but WTH, I had sand in my tongue, too.

The weather this morning was gloomy. I miss the glorious sunrise!

One thing I’ve learned while living here is that, we really get lots of beautiful sunrise in the winter months of November-February. When the summer season approaches, we get the boring gray clouds in the morning and of late, strange weather like sandstorm-rain-hot sun-rain again kind of freakish weather.

This morning when I drove to work, it rained! Talk about big fat drops of rain and strong winds, like in tropical countries. It was a little scary to drive in the rain. This sounds strange but after more than two years of living and driving in Dubai, the sight of the car window wipers hard at work disturbs me. A lot. I mean, we only use these wipers a few times a year so the constant movement of these 2 black things in front of me is pretty distracting.

But who am I to complain, when usually during this time of the year that we sweat and heave and sigh of the heat and Turkish bath like humidity, this morning’s cloud cover brought down the temperature to a lovely 26C!

From where are you and how is the weather in your area? It it a lovely spring day?
